WUU2? online curatorial project, co-curated with Agil Abdullayev, 2016-17

WUU2? was a curatorial project, co-curated by Emily Simpson and Agil Abdullayev. The project ran for over a year via the platform of Instagram; offering virtual residencies and url exhibtions. It seeked to circumvent the white cube gallery and associated hierarchies of class, gender, ability, ethnicity, sexuality and age through promoting a diverse range of artists and organising through collective online activity; where the internet becomes a place for play, a respite from the ‘irl’. Artists responded to the digital platform through a variety of ways, including;  trans-led talk shows, soap opera’s that played out through twitter feeds, queer life drawing, digital collage, video, augemented reality, algorythmic poetry  - blurring online and offline spaces.
