I was commissioned by Emily Peasgood to create 4 artworks to be permanently displayed in Haydock Library. I made tactile, sensory textile artworks, inspired by the libraries manifesto for inclusion and accessibility. They are designed to be touched, felt, played with, and used for sensory regulation. I chose fabrics based on their sensory feedback, with a range of textures. The tassels where made by the library users, during community workshops.

As Emily Peasgood says, the re-designed library ‘is a space for everyone, informed by the social model of disability. It's about balance - what one person needs can sometimes conflict with another's needs - so my aim is to create a space where everyone can find their place. I don't want to create something that looks like other libraries. I want it to be well-designed, beautiful and magical. A place where you want to be. I aim to create Haydock's living room.’
