Q

In the spirit of quilting tradition, myself and Chris Alton regularily facilitate workshops where people are invited to come together and ‘quilt’ (quilting being the process of sewing through layers of the ‘pieced’ fabric of a quilt). We invite people who have experiences of living with grief, and adverse mental health to share this sewing tradition, whilst we facilitate conversations about loss. The shared and tactile activity acts as a ‘softner’ for these conversations, creating a space for conversation to meander around. The hope is to provide commuity and spaces where identity can be explored; to find common threads.

No sewing experinece is required - participants are taught a simple running stitch and provided with equipment to suit different levels of dexterity.
