Earthing up Ghosts; a workshop about pickling and grief
Commissioned by Broken Grey Wires at The Williamson Museum and Art Gallery

A hands-on, open conversation about grief, through the grounding process of making pickles.

I invite people who have experienced grief to join me for a workshop centred around a communal ritual of preservation - making pickles. As we prepare and decorate pickle jars together there are moments for reflection and conversation about grief. Pickling becomes a metaphor for the magical thinking of grief - how we carry people forward with us as we learn to live with loss.

The aim is to find connection, explore grief literacy, and create a space where those living with loss can feel less alone.

In order to facilitate this workshop, I’ve undertaken specialist training (Mental Health First Aid and Counselling Skills). I’ve also worked closely with an access consultant to understand how we can facilitate both our own needs, and the needs of participants before and after the sessions.
