#DREAMPHONE, interactive artwork and boardgame, made in collaboration with Jade Blood, 2019

#DREAMPHONE is a collaborative work made by Jade Blood and Emily Simpson. A paradody of the problematic but popular 90’s boardgame (Dreamphone) which was aimed at girls under the age of 10. The game’s sole purpose to text boys, and bag yourself a dream man :’(setting the standards for young women’s aspirations ever since...)

#DREAMPHONE is an updated version, for those grown up 90’s kids and the modern, millennial, feminine, person! Forget boys, we now dream of figuring out how to fullfill the many dreams that society, captialism and the patriarchy have put upon us. Or of finding a way out of that ‘dream’. The game is a critique of our uncertain social and political times, where we may not get (or want!!!) the dream boy, but we will get an unpaid internship.

The boards are screenprinted, and game play takes place both IRL and URL (real game play using text messaging and emojis). The board game has been played, exhibited, and even supported punk band Dream Nails at a gig!
